Dr. Pechak, a native of Germany, received his D.D.S. degree from Ludwig‑Maximilian‑University, School of Medicine in 1994. He maintained a successful practice in general dentistry in Munich for three years, and was selected to attend the three‑year post‑doctoral program in Periodontics and Implantology at Tufts University, School of Dental Medicine in Boston. Dr. Pechak was the first in Monterey County, to be certified for Laser Periodontal Therapy, known as L.A.N.A.P. which is the only protocol approved by the FDA for periodontal treatment of gum disease.

Over time, the jawbone associated with missing teeth, atrophies or is reabsorbed. This often leaves a condition in which there is poor quality and quantity of bone suitable for placement of dental implants. Bone grafting can repair implant sites with inadequate bone structure.
When the sinus wall is very thin, it is impossible to place dental implants in this bone. Sinus bone grafts are performed to replace bone in the posterior upper jaw. The sinus lift makes it possible for many patients to have dental implants when years ago dentures were the only option.
A gingival graft, best known as periodontal plastic surgery, is a procedure whose aim is to cover an area of exposed tooth root surface with gum tissue. The covering of exposed root surfaces accomplishes a number of objectives: the prevention of further root exposure, decreased or eliminated sensitivity, decreased susceptibility to root decay and improved cosmetic appearances.
